January 11 - 15

Hello York parents/guardians!

             January 21-22 is an important date for the second grade! We are currently preparing for the middle of the year summative test called Case21. In reading we are practicing the R.E.L.A.X. strategy and in math we are working with the P.I.S.A. strategy. Please ask your child what each step is, and they should do well if they just follow the plan!

             This is the last week of the second quarter, so next Friday please be on the lookout for report cards!

 

             If you would like to meet for a conference I am available at 8:15am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; and at 4:15pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

              

             Students are encouraged to complete 3 math assignments and 3 reading assignments on Scootpad.com each week. Students will be able to work on them over the weekend as well. These assignments will only include objectives that we have covered in class. If you ever need help in signing in please do not hesitate to email me.

 

             Thank you for those of you who have donated healthy snacks recently! The snacks do go away fast and we are always in need.

             This Thursday is our Literacy Night at 6:00-7:30. The book fair will be open as well. You may come dressed in your pajamas as our theme is “Bedtime stories”. Students may also come to school in their pajamas that day.

             Our first field trip to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is next Tuesday! I have good news that the first 6 parent chaperones do not have to pay an entrance fee. Please look for more information in your child’s homework folder as the field trip nears.
